This farm-family’s long-time home was completely transformed inside and out. Originally a standard story-and-a-half brick home, it’s now a true modern farmhouse, a perfect fit for it’s rural setting.
At the heart of this major makeover was opening up the kitchen and breakfast room to the family room. In the before photo you can see how the old kitchen was separated and closed off from the rest of the house by a wall and by the stair, which we relocated to open the spaces to each other.
Below is the before view from the family room towards the kitchen, and below that, the same view after the stair was moved and the wall opened up.
The understated foyer is clean and simple. The track-and-pulley doors close off the home office.
