Cook Road

A love of the simplicity of New England homes led this couple from a small clapboard Cape Cod in town – to a new Cape-inspired home on a secluded wooded lot outside the city limits. The design takes the simple forms and shapes of New England homes and combines them in new version of a Cape Cod custom home.

Inside, the house is wide open, taking advantage of the site’s beautiful views, and creating an easy flow between the living spaces. Views from the kitchen look through the breakfast room, screened porch, and family room.

The family room is clean and simple, with plenty of windows – you don’t need a lot of stuff on the walls when your “decor” is the property you live on.

The front entry is at the center of the “cross” floor plan, and is deliberately understated. The display wall was designed to hold the owner’s collection of antique brooms.

You wouldn’t be surprised to hear that this screened porch is a popular spot!

A back hall connects the front entry to the garage – along the way is an open-walled home office, and a big bench seat underneath three big windows looking over the front yard.
