The Round House – Update #4
So much has been completed on the round house since my last update – wood floors are done, drywall is done, wood ceiling is done, Ipe decking is installed outside, and interior trim is about to start. Stucco’s well underway on the outside…
So it feels a little like I’m teasing you with these few photos of progress on the house! But you’re going to have to wait until it’s done to see the full extent of, and the unique details of, this pretty fantastic building.
The Ambrosia Maple ceiling in the main living area is probably beyond description, and certainly beyond my ability to photograph it. These boards were individually CNC milled to fit like puzzle pieces on the sloped, curved ceiling in the living/dining area. The round ceiling in the middle of the photo hugs the sitting area around the fireplace; the columns will be round, and, well, just check out the original sketch below:
Outside, the second (“brown”) coat of stucco is just about done. Next is the finish coat, which on this house will be in two colors – one for the “flat” walls, and another color for the curved walls. The tall stair tower you see in the middle of the photo below will be clad in cultured stone.
As always, big kudos to Ghiloni Custom Builders for the super work they’re doing on this complicated, one of a kind “round house” project.
thanks for the support Rich , we really enjoy working with you on such a unique project . vince ghiloni
