The Round House – Update #2
If you saw the first photos I posted of this house you got a hint of the design of this unique custom home but now, you can really see what’s going on.
The home sits on a hillside within a large property in rural Licking County, Ohio. This view is from the driveway as you approach the house from the southwest.
With a shape that’s half-round and half-rectangular, the framing of this house has been the most challenging part of the construction process. But the builder on this project – Ghiloni Custom Homes – is doing a superb job.
The view above is of the north side of the home – where the garage and front entrance are located. This side is tucked into the hill.
A view from the other side shows the slope of the property and all four levels of the home – at the bottom, a semi-circular recreation room; above that, the main floor living room (see photo below); the windows in the small cylinder above the curved room are in a sitting room adjacent to the owner’s suite; and above the sitting room, an open “star-gazing deck” tops it all off.
Here’s the main living area of the house – obviously, the sweeping views are the main design feature. But the sloped, curved ceiling’s going to be spectacular, too.
It was a little tricky getting up to the star-gazing deck, since the stairs haven’t been installed yet. It’s not as easy scrambling up and down ladders when you don’t do it every day! But the views from up here are worth it – can’t wait to be up here at night!
